We, the undersigned, call upon Chairman Sharon Bulova and the Fairfax County Supervisors to fully fund Fairfax County Public Schools.

Why is this important?

Our public schools are our crown jewels – the reason so many of us live and do business in Fairfax County. We are concerned that our quality of life and our children’s future will substantially degrade if we do not maintain public schools.

The Alliance for Fairfax Public Schools is a partnership of parents, students, and civic organizations including the Fairfax Education Association, Fairfax County Council of PTAs, and Fairfax County Federation of Teachers. Our purpose is to tell the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors that they must meet the needs of our schools and students.

Our schools are bursting at the seams, talented teachers are leaving, and already large class sizes could get even bigger. The Supervisors must make our schools the priority!

How it will be delivered

Signatures from petitions will be presented to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. We will inform signers of opportunities to get involved in the budget process.

When we returned from 6 years overseas, we bought a home in Fairfax County because of he reputation of the schools. Already the class sizes are getting too large and teachers are complaining of being overtaxed. We need to stop the decline asap.

Our teachers are our most precious resource. I want to make sure our teachers want to stay EVEN when FCPS pays so much less than Fall Church, Alexandria, and Arlington. We can't keep growing without funds to support our children and expect to stay on top.

I was appalled to learn that a FCPS teacher left for Prince William County for their higher salary three years ago. Last year this teacher returned to FCPS from Prince William. This teacher war re-hired with FCPS and is now making a higher salary than teachers with the same years of service that chose to remained with FCPS through the budget cuts.
