AT&T Mobility: Don't punish workers for being sick!

AT&T recently changed its sick leave policy to penalize workers when we're sick. Punishing workers for getting sick is bad for employees, their kids, and customers. AT&T should take the high road and rescind this unfair policy.

Why is this important?
Have you ever taken a sick day to care for your sick child? Ever been absent for a few days because of a nasty flu? Well, if you are an AT&T retail worker like me, getting sick may now result in termination.
As unbelievable as it sounds, AT&T Mobility is trying to institute a new sick day policy that gives “points” every time an employee gets sick. If my child gets the flu that keeps her out of school for 3 days, that’s three points. Any employee who gets 8 points is terminated. No exceptions.
This policy will result in many of my coworkers going to work with strep throat, with a nasty cold, and it may even force us to drop our kids off at school with a fever. AT&T is leaving us no choice. The alternative may be termination.
Many of us at AT&T are fighting back against this draconian policy. Will you add your name to our online petition? Sign this petition to tell AT&T’s CEO that firing workers for being sick is a sick policy!
The next time you go into an AT&T Mobility store to buy a cell phone or a tablet, if your salesperson is sneezing, AT&T’s new sick leave policy may very well be to blame. Their new policy is bad for workers, bad for kids, and bad for customers, too.
Please sign this online petition now! Tell AT&T not to punish workers for being sick!
