LWOP Leave Without Pay

It's unfair that when a person takes a day off of work because of illness or injury. Or if the have an approved vacation, and they don't have any sick days or annual leave. They are charged with LWOP. Then if you have X amount of LWOP your not entitled to a step increase. Plus at the end of your tour you end up owing the post office for the LWOP. Even if you do have sick leave or annual, supervisors will still charge you with LWOP. Which in the end, a person gets double jeopardy. Step increases taken from them and end up owing money out of their retirement. Step increases (raises) should be an entitlement. And LWOP she be just as it states. Leave Without Pay. I shouldn't be charged monetarily because I took a day off from work because I was sick or charged with LWOP for an approved vacation because I don't have any sick days or annual leave. The Post Office shouldn't give you annual leave in advance either. This way you don't end up using time you don't have and then charged for using it. If the post office wants to match your annual leave or sick days, that's one thing. But charging someone with LWOP and charging them for it is wrong.

Why is this important?

A time may come when a person may need to take time off of work. Maybe for a medical reason for themselves or their child and they don't have sick leave or annual leave to cover the time off and will be charged with LWOP Leave Without Pay. Not only will some people owe medical bills, they'll owe the post office also for using LWOP. Plus if the post office has taken the person step increase away for that person using LWOP you keep that person at the same rate of pay for years even up to retirement.
